Complete dinner including coleslaw, dinner roll, roast beef entrée, mashed potatoes, vegetables, dessert and beverage. All are welcome. Fully accessible hall with elevator service provided. Adults $15.00 and under 12 years $5.00.
These Community Roast Beef Dinners are held to raise funds in support of the Knights of Columbus Council's charitable programs in the Cornwall community.
During the day on Saturday, September 9, Oaks Parks will be the celebration grounds offering a variety of entertainment and excitement as our heroes and their families walk a “mile” around the track with their families and the entire community at Heater’s Heroes cheering them on. For many of the children the symbolic mile (lap) is a huge accomplishment and very inspiring to the Heater’s Heroes supporters.
The event starts at 12 noon and will feature family fun activities during the day including bouncy castles, stilt walkers, the Heartland Forest train, and more. At 5 p.m., we turn things up a notch with 4 bands will take the stage including: Shin-Dig, The Spinz, KAC, Jamelie & Tim from YellowByrd.
Founded in 2011 by Mike Strange to honour the memory of his mentor Bob “Heater” Lavelle, and to continue “Heater’s” work in helping local children, Heaters Heroes has helped over 100 children and raised well over $100,000. All proceeds are donated directly to the children’s families and to local children’s charity partners to fulfill a wish for the child and assist families in purchasing medical needs for their child. “Once you meet any of these children you will immediately want to help not only them but their families as well!” says Mike Strange.
Niagara residents are invited to join the fun at Oaks Park and can support our Heroes by making donations and playing games and activities.. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase and Blackburn Brewhouse has created a specially wrapped beer in honour of the event. If you can’t make it, online donations can be made at www.heatersheroes.ca.
