Amend Bill 148 Raly
A Group of Concerned parents would like the option to amend bill 148 to offer their kids with developmental disabilities to work jobs that would give them a sense of accomplishment but also pay them below minimum wage, much like the Sheltered Workshops that used to be offered at Community Living.
Groups like Community Living and LiveWorkPlay are worried about the removal of human rights from these developmentally disabled workers and that people should instead look at finding suitable work for the legal minimum wage.
Jackie Agnew Finishes Third
The Liberal Candidate for Renfrew-Nippising-Pembroke finished in third in this election with 4,000 votes. Jackie was saddened by the overall liberal results, but she is using this as a building block and experience for her next campaign.
Ethel LaValley Finishes Second
The NDP Candidate finished second in the polls with over 8,000 votes. Ethel is very excited for the strides made by the NDP government and is happy that it will be the NDP who are now the official opposition.
John Yakabuski Elected MPP
John Yakabuski has been re-elected as the MPP for Renfrew-Nippising-Pembroke, but this time he will do it with the backing of a majority PC Government. This is the first time in as MPP that Yakabuski will be in the drivers seat in his 15 years.
