There is an online petition to get artist, and Burlington community centre namesake, Robert Bateman's work to be displayed in the national gallery of Canada.... and the deadline for signatures is quickly approaching. Susan Stern who is the petiton initiator joins to talk about what the petition aims to accomplish and the influence of Robert Bateman.

For so many Canadians, the Terry Fox run is deeply personal, with generations of families coming together to honour those who have fought & those who are still battling cancer. That emotional connection was on full display yesterday morning at the Oakville Terry Fox run, where hundreds of local residents gathered in Coronation park to keep the marathon of hope alive. The stories begin with a couple of young participants sharing exactly who has inspired them to start a brand new team

The Burlington Men's Shed is a group dedicated to helping each other and the community. This election season, the group organized Burlington's first mayoral debate of the season. The debate took place late last week, and Craig Mcnicoll was there.

Every year the Halton suicide prevention coalition creates a new 'garden of hope'. These gardens feature rocks painted with positive uplifting messages for anyone who needs support and encouragement. There are currently two garden's of hope in Oakville, one in Milton, one in Georgetown, and now a new one in Acton.

Community Living Burlington helps support children, adults and seniors who have a developmental disability. In honour of  hunger action month they officially opened a new mini mart at their mainway headquarters. Upgrading the previous pantry of non-perishables to help better support their clients.

Now to a story of true resilience. Wendy Perkins has been navigating a serious cancer battle for the past 4 years, yet her spirit remains completely unbroken! instead of stepping back, she continues to step up for others. This coming sunday, Wendy is channeling her energy into supporting the terry fox run in Oakville

With both parents and students feeling the stress of back to school, the Roxy Centre in Acton hopes to help. They are hosting a clothing shop made of donated items to help ease the financial stress associated with buying school outfits.
