The fight to combat invasive species by promoting and creating opportunities to grow native plants continues in Halton Hills. a grant of more than half-a-million dollars, which the town received from the federation of Canadian municipalities growing Canada's community canopies program, is allowing them to offer a deeply subsidized price to residents. So far, about two thousand trees have been planted on public land. Recently, residents got a chance to buy some trees and shrubs, extending the reach of the program to private property.

Dennis Windego and grandmother's voice have been running indigenous cultural competency training seminars for health care, justice and front line crisis responders. The training is in response to several truth and reconciliation calls to action to help organizations understand how to best support indigenous people.
