This Sunday it will be forty five years ago that Terry Fox was forced to stop his Marathon of Hope. Since then, every September Canadians gather to raise funds for cancer research in his name. Nikki Wesley spoke with two Oakville women who are truly dedicated to keeping Terry's dream of hope alive.

The two year restoration project at Carlisle Conservation Area is now complete, the roots of this plan however date back much further. Conservation Halton notes that it was back in the 1960's when this watercourse was originally deepened and widened for recreational use. Then, in 1992, a watershed study of Bronte Creek was completed which showed that it would be necessary to remediate those alterations, that work began in the early 2020's.

The Mental Health and Addictions Unit at Joseph Brant Hospital is dated, having been created in the 60s. The hospital foundation has been fundraising since January 2024 with a major project planned to modernize the unit and increase capacity by twenty three percent. With Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward taking the final few days of summer off, Deputy Mayor Kelvin Galbraith stepped into the weekly update spot. This year marks the 15th for the backpack program at links 2 care. It's been helping children go back to school since an employee first noticed the need and asked to start a pilot program in 2010. Well over 100 families were helped in that first year and the need across Georgetown and Acton continues to grow.
